The hike:
Today I did Stage 2 (to Les Chapieux) and part of Stage 3.
There was a drizzle when I left my hotel early in the morning.
Again, the town was really quiet.
The trail was flat at first. But it started raining and it soon became heavier.
Notre-Dame de la Gorge. There was supposed to be a bus that could take you from Les Contamines to this church. But again, I wanted the whole experience so I chose to walk.
The long, steep, and strenuous ascending started soon after the church. A couple of hours after I left town, the rain finally stopped.
Lots of clouds and it was really beautiful.
It was foggy sometimes due to the clouds. Fortunately I could still see lots of wildflowers along the trail.
Finally the sky cleared up!
As I was approaching Col du Bonhomme, there was still some snow/ice on the trail.
Great views.
Les Chapieux was ahead.

It started raining again which soon became a thundershower. It was also cold and windy and it made the rest of the hike very unpleasant.
Finally arrived at the refuge.
