Giethoorn is a fairytale Dutch village that’s mostly car free. It’s often referred to as the “Venice of the North” for its beautiful waterways that crisscross the village. Its canals are lined with charming lush gardens and it’s said to have over 180 bridges that connect the different parts of the village.
I was looking forward to visiting. Unfortunately it was raining when we arrived in the morning. Nevertheless, we hired a boat and toured the village in the rain.
