I needed a place to stay for the night after visiting Passage du Gois before heading back to Paris and Nantes seemed to be the most logical choice as it’s the sixth largest city in France and thus had plenty of nice lodging options.
There’s a huge parking lot outside the city. I parked there like everyone else and walked to my hotel about 30 minutes away.

After settling, I left the hotel and started exploring on foot.

Château des ducs de Bretagne is a castle built in 13th the century.

Jardin des Plantes de Nantes is a nice botanical garden with some interesting sculptures.

I saw an interesting building so I went to investigate. It turned out to be a school.

Lastly, the famous mechanical elephant Les Machines de l’Île. It was fun watching it walk and spray water at bystanders from its trunk.

There was also a mechanical bird nearby.
