Unique Hotels From Belgium to Netherlands

As I traveled from Brussels to Amsterdam, there were several interesting lodging options in the vicinity along the route. It would be interesting to spend a night in each of them but it wasn’t possible due to various reasons.

La Balade Des Gnomes

La Balade Des Gnomes is less than two hours drive from Brussels. But it was a little out of the way as it was in the opposite direction of where I was heading to. So staying here wasn’t really an option as driving back and forth would waste a lot of time.

This hotel has a few different rooms. The trojan horse room is probably the most special. From reading the online reviews, it seemed like the interior of the room wasn’t in the most desirable condition. That was another reason I didn’t choose the stay.

I didn’t really visit this hotel because it was out of the way and from Google Map street view, it didn’t seem that the trojan horse was visible from the street anyway so there was no point going.

CasAnus Hotel (The Giant Intestine Hotel)

This giant intestine hotel is located between Bruges and Antwerp. Again, I didn’t visit the hotel in person because it didn’t seem to be visible from the street and I didn’t have a rental car when I was in Belgium. I did consider renting a car but it was super expensive (taxes were even more than the base rate). But I’m sure spending a night in this hotel would be very interesting.

The Cubehouse

I visited the Cube Houses a few years ago and loved its uniqueness. The interior of the houses are as unique as the exterior. Unfortunately, I couldn’t stay in Rotterdam or I wouldn’t be able to finish what I had planned for this trip.

The Crane Hotel Faralda

The Crane Hotel is Amsterdam. There are three rooms, each at a different level. I had seriously considered staying there. But it cost over $1000 per night, which was way too much for me. I did go check it out after visiting Keukenhof. But I couldn’t get close because there was a swap market and the whole area was fenced in.

Vliegtuisuite Teuge

This luxury plane suite hotel is as unique as the others. It is not too far from Amsterdam and is very similar to the plane hotel I saw in Costa Rica which I regretted not staying. So I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to stay in a plane again. The price for a weekend night was EUR 425. Unfortunately, it was sold out for the night I was in Amsterdam.

Inntel Zaandam

This colorful hotel that looks like a 3D puzzle is located in Zaandam which is very close to Amsterdam. I stopped by on my way to Keukenhof. But I wasn’t able to spend more time exploring because I wasted a lot of time driving to a wrong site earlier and ran out of time.

Hotel de Vrouwe Van Stavoren

Of all the unique hotels on this list, this is where I decided to stay for a night. I got to sleep in a giant wine cast. It was very cool!

This hotel is located in Stavoren, about an hour and a half from Amsterdam. It’s a very nice and quiet little town.
