The hike:
Today I planned to finish two day’s hikes (Stage 6 and 7) in the official itinerary.
Soon after I checked in yesterday, it started to rain. It was still raining this morning when I was ready to head out. I debated whether I should wait but decided against it because I had a long day ahead.

It wasn’t too bad at first. Sometimes it was just a drizzle. The rain also stopped occasionally for short periods of time. So the incline didn’t feel too difficult. Cool temperature also helped.

After finally reaching the top, knowing there was a long descent ahead, I thought I could finally relax a little. But the rain started to pick up. Soon there was even a hailstorm, combined with a strong wind. I was so cold I was freezing.

Fortunately, the rain eventually stopped.

I got mud all over my shoes at a muddy construction site.

Sometime during the hike, I crossed the boarder and entered Switzerland. But I didn’t realize that until I reached Ferret.

Then La Fouly.

After passing through one small town after another, the trail took me to a forest which also started today’s final ascent. There were some carved wood animals in the forest that made the climb a little more tolerable.

Staying in the little lakeside town Champex tonight.
