【Dolomites Trip】: A Few Quick Stops

I planned to spend some time visiting / hiking in the Valdi Funes area but decided to take it easy and relax a little bit towards the end of my Dolomites trip. So Instead, I made a few quick stops at the end and on my way back to the airport.

Santa Magdalena Viewpoint

This viewpoint was supposed to be reached via a 1.5 km hike. But Google directed me to the viewpoint directly. It was a narrow one lane road with no place to park. Fortunately there was no other car around at the time. So I just took a few quick pictures while I was sitting in the car and left.

The area nearby was quite nice too.

Corvara Sign

On my way to the hotel at the end of the day I saw this sign so I made a quick stop. The view behind the sign was quite good too.

Lago di Alleghe

Originally I planned to walk around this lake which would take about an hour and a half. But I didn’t want to miss the hotel breakfast which didn’t start until 7:30 and it was really good so I spent too much time having seconds and thirds and left the hotel too late. As a result, a walk around the lake turned into a quick photo stop.

Cadini del Brenton

This is located in Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park. It is a 10-15 min loop hike to see a series of rocky potholes with a small waterfall. Not extremely scenic compared to the sites in the Dolomites but still a nice quick stop on the way to the airport.

Stop Playing Sculpture

If you have been to Venice, you probably have seen those giant hands sculptures by Lorenzo Quinn. I didn’t stop by Venice this time as I had already visited there many years ago. But I did visit another sculpture by Lorenzo Quinn.

This sculpture is named “Stop Playing” and is located at Forte Marghera in Mestre. It was created as a symbol of ecologic awareness. The slingshot represents our natural resources, which are being stretched beyond limits.
