The weather was beautiful when we arrived in Puerto Madryn on day 5 (Day 4 was at sea).

Today we went to Punta Tombo Nature Reserve to see Magellanic penguins.
There was a short trail about one mile long (one way). Soon we saw a little penguin right next to the walking path.

As we walked along, we saw more and more penguins. Many of them built their nests right next to the trail so we were able to see them very closely.

You could see their nests everywhere.

It was the end of the breeding season. Many penguins had already left. There were only about less than two hundreds penguins left. It was still a pretty exciting sight for me.

The area around the nature reserve was also very scenic.

As some penguins were still molting, they still had patches of feathers on them. We could also see lots of feathers on the ground.

It was a warm day (low 70’s). Penguins stayed in the shade to cool off.

Besides penguins, we also saw some guanacos at the nature reserve.

Back to the cruise port.
