Our cruise ship stayed overnight in Reykjavik and was scheduled to depart today at 6pm. So we had another day to explore. The cruise ship was also offering a free excursion to downtown Reykjavik to visit most of the popular tourist sites.
We took the tour bus to Perlan first to visit the museum.

We then walked to Hallgrimskirkja church. This is one of the most famous landmarks in Iceland. It was designed by architect Guðjón Samúelsson in the 1930s and took 41 years to build. The design was inspired by the natural landscape of Iceland, with its angular lines meant to resemble the basalt columns found in the country’s volcanic terrain.

After visiting the church, we parted ways with our tour group and started exploring on our own.

Instead of taking the tour bus, my sister and I decided to walk back to the cruise ship. It was a beautiful walk along the shore.
