Königssee is one of the cleanest and most pristine lakes in Germany. I visited Königssee many years ago, but at the time, the weather was gloomy, so I didn’t get to enjoy the lake as much as I should have. During this trip, since the weather was so nice, I decided to make a quick stop here again.
There wasn’t enough time for hiking or other activities as this visit wasn’t planned, and we had a long drive ahead of us. Also, while driving from Austria to Germany this morning, I suddenly realized where I was and remembered the delicious pork knuckle I had last time I was in Germany. I desperately wanted to have it again and could hardly wait 😂. So we were in a bit of a rush, which turned out to be a good thing since it took us much longer than expected to find a place that sold it. In the end, we just walked around the lake, taking in the crystal-clear emerald waters and the surrounding steep, towering mountains.
Although it was a brief visit, revisiting Königssee with such beautiful weather was a rewarding experience.
