The hike:

This via ferrata is located in West Virgina and is the fourth and the hardest via ferrata I’ve done.
I arrived at NROCKS around 12:30pm for the 1:00pm tour. After gearing up and having the orientation, we took a short hike to the beginning of the course.

And arrived shortly.

After another brief safety orientation, we began our vertical climb.

Then there was a section where we could easily climb without rungs.

I enjoyed some views along the way.

More vertical climb.

Soon we passed through a notch and came across an exposed section. It was a little terrifying but the view was breathtaking.

Before long the 150-feet high, 200-feet long suspension bridge appeared in front of us. This was the reason I did this via ferrata.

It wasn’t as scary as I expected which was a big relief.

Great view from the bridge too.

We were greeted by another vertical climb at the end of the bridge.

After that there was a lot of scrambling.

And more climb.

And more scrambling.

This part of the climb (below) was optional. Since all we were to do was to climb to the top and then come down again, I decided to opt out and save my energy.

The rest of the hike was all scrambling which was a little difficult if you have short legs.

At the end of the tour, we stopped by a lookout point where we could enjoy more amazing views, including Spruce Knob, which is West Virginia’s highest peak, before we were picked up for the short drive back.

We finished at around 5pm.
Very nice 🙂
