Tre Cime di Lavaredo, known as the Three Peaks of Lavaredo, are three iconic peaks (Cima Piccola, Cima Grande, and Cima Ovest) in the Dolomites and are probably one of the best known. The hike that circles these three peaks is one of the most popular and a must do in the Dolomites.

Since this is an extremely popular hike, I went early to try to avoid the crowd. But the parking lot was already almost full when I arrived at little after 7 am. Parking cost €30 which was pretty expensive.

The hike started next to Rifugio Auronzo with stunning views.

I hiked counterclockwise as recommended by most people. The trail was mostly flat in the beginning.

The ascent started after Lavaredo Hutte.

The three peaks came into view before long.

Soon I reached the base of the three peaks, which is also the highest point on the trail.

From here there was a short descent, before it started ascending again.

Once I reached Dreizinnen Hut, I could see Lago dei Piani not far below. I debated if I wanted to hike down to the lake. But knowing going down meant I had to climb back up, I decided to save my energy and only view the lake from the main trail above.

From Dreizinnen Hut it started descending again for about a mile until it reached the lowest point on the trail.

From there it was steady ascent for the rest of the trail to reach the parking lot.
