After anticipating it for a whole year, it was finally time for my Dolomites trip.
But the trip didn’t start exactly as planned. My flight to London delayed for over two hours. Fortunately I had a four hour layover so I didn’t miss my connecting flight to Venice. But the flight to Venice was also delayed. After I finally arrived in Venice, picking up my rental car took a little longer than expected. Then I decided to take the toll road to save some time. But at the toll booth, the machine wouldn’t take my credit cards (I tried all four that I brought with me) and kept displaying an error in Italian which I didn’t understand. I had to back out of that lane and switch to the next lane that took cash. Nothing happened after I fed my €20. I pressed the help button and was eventually connected to someone who spoke only Italian and got yelled at because we couldn’t communicate 😂.
I finally stopped someone in the next lane that was trying to pay for his toll and solicited his help. He was able to get an attendant to come and checked the machines and told me “sometimes the machines were crazy”. After everything was finally settled, I arrived at Lake Misurina later than expected.
I was immediately drawn to the lake. It was so calm with perfect reflections.
I originally planned to hike around the lake so I could enjoy it from every angle. But I was running out of time due to my late arrival. So I decided to run the trail instead, at least part of it.
I hiked/ran the lake counterclockwise.
No matter where I was around the lake, it looked beautiful.
The average time to go around the circle was 48 minutes. But with the run, I finished the 1.65-mile loop around the lake in 25 minutes.
I also had plans to visit Dürrensee (Lago di Landro) today after Lake Misurina. Yet due to my late arrival, there wasn’t enough time. But I was able to make it to the hotel before they closed at 9 pm to check in.
