Alpe di Siusi, also known as Seiser Alm (in German), is the largest and highest Alpine meadow in Europe. It’s a very popular tourist destination and as a result, private vehicles are not allowed to drive to there between 9am and 5pm (need to take the cable cars otherwise).

I was going to have a quick breakfast at the hotel when it started at 7am. But the breakfast was so good I stayed longer to enjoy it and had seconds and thirds. By the time I finished my breakfast and drove to Compatsch, it was already after 8am.

My route today was to hike from Compatsch to Sanon Hutte and then to Saltria. A lot of it was on paved road and it was mostly flat until the very end, so it was a very easy walk.

Here are the pictures from Compatsch to Sanon Hutte.

From Saltria, I was going to take the bus back to Compatsch. The bus was right there when I arrived at the bus station, but left before I was able to buy the ticket at the ticket machine. He wouldn’t even wait for one more minute! Since it would be another 15-20 minutes before the next bus arrived, I decided to hike back instead. But after a few minutes, I realized it was really hot and there was no shade. I had no choice but to go back to the bus station and wait for the next bus 😂.
