I wanted to finish everything yesterday so we could relax today. But by the time we got to Recoleta Cemetery yesterday after Caminito, it was already closed. So we walked another 45 minutes after breakfast this morning to see the cemetery.
Recoleta Cemetery is a place of rest for the rich, famous, and powerful of Argentina. CNN and BBC haled it as one of the best cemeteries in the world.

The cemetery is indeed beautiful. Some tombs are multiple-stories high, with staircases inside and/or outside that lead to more stories underground (basements?)

Many of them were decorated beautifully inside.

One of the most famous person buried here was Evita. We found her tomb not far from the exit.

A short distance from the cemetery was Recoleta Cultural Centre which was built in 1732 and one of the city’s oldest buildings. I loved how colorful and vibrant this building looked.

To the north of the cemetery and cultural center, there was a very picturesque pedestrian bridge.

Since we were already out and there were plenty of time, we walked to Puerto Madero which was said to feature the latest architectural trends.

Puente de la Mujer (Woman’s Bridge) is a rotating bridge that resembles the movement of the man in a tango dance. It was actually built in Spain and shipped for resembly in Buenos Aires.

It was almost noon and we decided to go back to the ship to have lunch and relax and wait for departure. We walked almost nine miles today.
