Our cruise ship was staying in Bergen overnight. So we had two days to explore Bergen. As we didn’t have to rush back, I decided to do a longer hike and combined 2-3 scenic trails into a long loop trail.
As we were leaving the city, the ascent started at a neighborhood park.

After many switchbacks, we came to a spot with views of the cruise port.

Soon we left the city and entered the wilderness area and was greeted by a carved wood woman.

The higher we climbed, the better the views.

After almost five miles of ascent, the trail became relatively flat.

During one of our excursion tours a few days ago, we learned that cows, goats, and sheep were entitled to eight weeks of vacation by law in Norway. We ran into some vacationing sheep on the trail 😄.

I really enjoyed the hike with many amazing views of lakes, ponds, creeks, and the ocean.

Sometimes we had to hop on the little rocks to cross the water as shown in the three pictures below. It wasn’t easy. But I managed not to keep my shoes dry.

Parts of the trail also required a little scrambling.

Once we reached the summit of Mount Ulriken, the views were absolutely stunning.

Then endless downhill stairs.

More views of the city on the way down.

Finally we were back to the city and the rest of the hike was easy on flat paved roads.

I saw an interesting SLOW sign on the way back.
