I was looking forward to seeing Donut Falls. It’s a unique waterfall where water falls through a donut-like hole. But reaching the waterfall wasn’t easy.
The trail started near Beaver Pond.
It was very muddy at times. Since my hiking shoes fell apart yesterday on Stewart Falls Trail, I had to toss them and now had to hike in sandals as these were the only other pair I brought with me. It was a struggle to walk through the slippery mud.
As I got close to the waterfall, most of the trail was in the water which was very cold.
In order to get to the falls, I had to climb some large slippery boulders through icy running water, which didn’t seem safe to do in sandals. After some debate, I decided to give up and turned back.
I took a different route back. Most of the trail on the way back was flat and easy and dry.
Although I didn’t get to see Donut Falls, it was still a pleasant hike.
